Pacific Press: MECHANICAL ENGINEER

GENERAL SCOPE

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for all aspects of the equipment design process that relate to the mechanical/hydraulic components, and the systems in which they apply.  They are to be well versed in the safety and industry standards as they apply to their function.  Other responsibilities include support of aftermarket sales, inside sales, service department and ongoing daily manufacturing.  Some travel may be required. This position reports to the Engineering Manager.

The position will be best suited for an individual with strong leadership skills and a passion for growing business and continuous improvement, with a high level of intellectual curiosity.  

FUNCTIONS

New Sales

  1. Assist sales during initial quoting stages to aid in specifying equipment details.
  2. Design new equipment, support structure, and/or auxiliary equipment to meet customer requirements.
  3. Calculate stress and deflection of components using FEA to achieve desired specifications.
  4. Create detailed drawings using GD&T.
  5. Support purchasing by communicating details of components with suppliers as needed.
  6. Create and release engineering BOM’s for new jobs in ERP system.

After Sales

  1. Support service department in troubleshooting field equipment.
  2. Support the aftermarket parts department with replacement parts sourcing and viable alternatives to obsolete or unavailable components.
  3. Make recommendations as to the necessity of rebuild or repair of existing equipment.

Other

  1. Investigate cost savings and technical improvement options.
  2. Assist in creation of operation manuals for equipment.
  3. Support the manufacturing department in daily operations.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. BA/BS Degree in mechanical engineering and/or relevant industry experience.
  2. Experience in creating schematics and assembly/part drawings using AutoCAD and Solidworks.
  3. Able to read and understand technical documentation, i.e. schematics, spec sheets, manuals, etc.
  4. General knowledge of electrical controls and their associated function for equipment.

Other Attributes Preferred:

  1. 5 years of experience.
  2. Hydraulic systems experience preferred.
  3. Experience with Made2Manage.
  1. Ability to define and validate design parameters and execute tolerance analyses.
  2. Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, technical, and communication skills.
  3. Impeccable attention to detail.
  4. Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel.
  5. Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles.
  6. Self-starting with ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
  7. Industrial Machinery Design Experience.
  8. Experience in a smaller company culture and enjoyment of being involved in all aspects of a business.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Miscellaneous duties and assignments as requested by the Engineering Manager. 
  2. Less than 10% Travel requirements.

  1. Base Salary: Competitive, based on candidate experience.

Work Schedule/Location

  1. Monday – Friday, 8 am – 4:30 pm.
  2. Hybrid work schedule, combination of working remotely and at the office.
